LOBI MISSION STATEMENT

Britain has a long heritage of brewing fine lagers, with the country’s first lager brewery, the Anglo-Bavarian Brewery, opening in 1864.

But, it’s sad to say, not all the lagers brewed on these shores are honest to the style’s true heritage.

Lagers of the British Isles, (LOBI), is a new body established to promote greater awareness of the quality, independent artisan lager brands made on these shores.

Established by some of the most successful, cutting edge and artisan producers of lager in the UK – Cotswold, Freedom, Harviestoun, Hepworth’s and West beer and Rebellion – the group hopes it will bring better lagers to the attention of the increasingly discerning British public.

To ensure they hold true to this promise, members of the group have committed to the below promises that their products will:

  • always be genuinely lagered*
  • be uncompromisingly tasty
  • always be made using the highest quality, honest ingredients (i.e. no maize or rice)
  • work towards reducing food miles

* the word lager comes from the German word lagerung and means stored, some brands of lager believe this time can be cut but we believe that means cutting out flavour thereby cutting the customer a raw deal.

"Cotswold Summer" wins award at The 2009

Royal Show.

The good news is that the Judges at the Royal Show sampled our new seasonal lager "Cotswold Summer" and gave the the lager and the concept of a seasonal lager a big thumbs up. We won the Drink Champion of 2009 award

**********************************************************

Bringing the concept of a guest lager to life with

‘A Font for all Seasons ’.

We have now launched our latest seasonal lager,

Cotswold Winter Lager, and our concept of

A Font for all Seasons’ is working very well with our existing and new customers.

The Font for all Seasons is a stand alone font that changes product style every 3 months rotating through the seasons with Cotswold Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter lagers. Each lager is perfectly matched to the season in question and only available for 3 months.

It’s all about delivering to you and your customers a fresh, local, seasonal lager that is just right for that time of the year and tastes terrific. A bit like delivering them fresh, local seasonal food in the way your fantastic chefs do.

You might be wondering how the ‘Font for all Seasons’ works and it couldn't actually be simpler. All you have to do is select a style of font from the following website www.alan-courtenay.co.uk and we’ll order one up for you. Then we come and fit it (installing a new line if required) and badge it up with the current seasonal lager branding and hook it up to the fresh, great tasting lager of the moment. When the next seasonal brew is ready we will be back to re-badge and market the new seasons’ lager to your customers.

We think it’s a great way to deliver an interesting new product to your customers every three months and we’re sure that in these days where customers actively seek out that fresh, local produce with provenance the Font for all Seasons will be a massive hit.

Cotswold Winter Lager is the latest in the Cotswold Seasonal line. At 6.5% APR this luscious dark lager is a warm hug in a glass. When Jack Frost is nipping at your nose and Good King Wenceslas is staring out the window there's nothing better than a pint of this winter wonder. Rich deep malt flavours will delight your palate and a subtle sweetness will tingle your taste buds and all the time your cockles will be warming - ho ho ho!

If you’d like to find out more about any of our products and be one of the first to get your hands on a ‘Font for all Seasons’  then give Michael Willis a call on 07760 889100 or e-mail willis@cotswoldlager.com.

Here’s to a great season from all at the Cotswold Brewing Company.

COTSWOLD LAGER & TRUCK present:

THE COTSWOLD SPRING LAGER LAUNCH
Chipping Norton Town Hall
Saturday 4th April 2009, 7pm till late

Well if you couldn't make the gig more is the pity as the bands were fantastic and the new "Cotswold Spring" went down a treat as well.

To show you what you missed we will keep the resumes of the acts on this page for a while and we wish them every success in their careers. Many thanks to Joe and Robin Bennett for organising the gig and good luck with the Truck festivals this year.

Toby Sebastian; A supremely talented singer/songwriter recently featured on the Ch4 TV programme ‘Orange Unsigned’. He’s only 16 but his future’s real bright. Blur’s Alex James named him the most talented songwriter in the show.

Josh Bray; They’re calling him the young ‘Nick Drake’ and for good reason Josh’s song-writing talents have already been snapped up by fashion brand ‘Jack Wills’ and his enigmatic performances are spine tingling brilliant. Think British, American revivalist folk at its best.

Danny and the Champ; Probably the best band in the World, a festival favourite with a talent to keep audiences rocking all night long. Influenced by the likes of Neil Young and Robert Plant the band is a favourite of BBC Radio 2’s Bob Harris.

Dusty and the Dreaming Spires; Made up of members of chart topping band Goldrush these accomplished musicians are top of the covers bands with a mix of 60’s,70’ s and current day hits plus a pretty tasty original catalogue to boot.

The Tax Man

It seemed to be hidden in the spin when Alastair Darling tried to kick start the economy with a 2.5% decrease in VAT.  What most people don't know is that he funded this decrease with a 8% increase in Beer Duty.   This takes last year's duty increase to a whopping 17%.  Clearly this government has no respect for us and the other small businesses involved in the beer and pub trade...you can let him know that you disapprove by sending him an e-mail at darlinga@parliament.uk

The Lemonheads are confirmed as headline act!"

Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire and for one night only... BRUSSELS!

We were invited, along with a keg of our 'Premium Cotswold Lager' to attend the All Party Parliamentary British Beer Club’s Christmas Reception in Brussels on 29th November 2005.

The evening was a celebration of British Beers and Speciality Foods to mark the UK’s presidency of the European Union. Although we had to cancel our attendance due to work commitments, snow and sick children our lager was very well received, apparently “It proved to be a real boon with continental brewers and MEPs”. Apparently it helped sustain the poor guy who spent the whole evening shucking oysters!

Our launch party

Our launch party, held at the brewery on the 30th September, was an opportunity for us to prove that we could 'organise a party in a brewery'!

Suppliers, the press and fellow brewers spent the afternoon touring the brewery, chatting and washing down our “posh kebabs” with pints of Premium Cotswold!  The evening saw a change of faces and atmosphere as friends, family and local villagers tried to drink the brewery dry as the barn swayed to the music from our two guest bands. Great fun was had by all, and who knows, we might even make it a regular event!
